The Real Estate News this week has certainly taken a back seat to the tragedy in Boston as well it should. The only two stories of any substance were Rising Home Values and how to take advantage of the equity and Builders pass key milestone. It only took 6 years to see an article on how to use your home as a mac machine. Seriously. Yes values are on the rise and that is a great sign. More people will be able to refinance and more people will now have enough equity to be able to sell but home equity loans for cars and things. C’mon mann. Meanwhile some mixed news from the homebuilders. Yes the annual pace of housing starts topped 1 million for the first time in 5 years. Reading between the lines however revealed that there was a surge in apartment buildings while single family homes actually fell 6% from February. Even as they topped the million mark permits fell 4% from the month before. Still this is better news than 5 years ago.
Today Vince and I are joined by Edward Anthony Welch from Higgins and Welch Real Estate. Family-owned and operated Higgins & Welch traces its roots to the 1970s, when H.H. Higgins REALTOR, Inc, first opened its doors in the East Falls section of Philadelphia. Decade after decade, they have weathered the cyclical nature of the real estate market and in the process gained a solid foundation. Today they proudly support their customers with complete, results-focused expertise in sales, valuation, negotiation, and property management. In every aspect of their work, the team remains dedicated to servicing with integrity, enthusiasm and the highest level of professionalism. Higgins & Welch has been recognized and honored by both the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and the Philadelphia Business Journal. In 2009, they ranked us 25th of the top 100 fastest growing privately held Philadelphia businesses, from more than 800 nominees. They had the honor of being ranked in 2010, as the 9th fastest growing privately held company – no small feat for anyone during that time period, let alone a real estate firm.
