For those of you who are new to the show I have spent the last 40 years in the real estate industry both as a realtor and a mortgage banker. So last week we were in an open forum discussing many misconceptions.
This week the Real Estate News was all but non- existent as all eyes are on the jobs report, the Federal Reserve and Syria. All of which is adding uncertainty to the stock and bond market. There were two articles that I read that were worth discussing. The first was on renovations of your home and five smart fixes. The thought is that with real estate prices on the rise now is the first time in a long time that it is safe to invest in your home again. It may actually cost you less to upgrade your current home than to sell and move up to an upgraded home. Be careful to make certain that you are not over improving your home. The other was a national article on the best places in big city markets to live. Making the top 10 was our very own Mt. Airy. The article depicts the area as racially and religiously diverse “packed with historic homes and leafy streets.” The area is also a 10 minute walk from Fairmount park.
Today Eddie and I are being joined by phone with Andy Dziedzic of Financial Strategies Advisory for another addition of Finance Fitness.
Please join us live at www.wbcb1490.com for the open discussion about what’s next in your marketplace.
In combination with CBS and WPHT 1210 am we have also been fortunate enough to have been asked to write some articles in “Local Living Magazine” to explore some of the questions you all ask us and the answers we provide. Look for your latest issue this month. For a FREE subscription please email us.
Each week we discuss the myths of the mortgage market. It is not about rate. A higher rate with no mortgage insurance may provide a lower payment.
